DOUBLE TAKES!!!

The many female icons of the past have paved the way for a new crop of rising stars. The success that the women mentioned previously (and others unnamed)have had led to a wave of future icons that have taken mental notes in order to find their own ladder to success. Many young stars began revamping their image to mimick one of many accomplished women as soon as they came of age, and from that point on, the comparisons between them and past icons are innumerable! [Top to Bottom, Left to Right: Actresses Megan Fox and Angelina Jolie, Actresses Marilyn Monroe and Lindsay Lohan, and Singers Ciara and Beyonce]

When asked about influences and inspirations, young stars commonly list the many women that have come before them. Multi-talented teen sensation/millionaire Miley Cyrus has already found an abundance of success, but that hasn't stopped her from wanting to obtain even more like her idol, Beyonce.

“I want to be like Beyonce. She is the ultimate woman. You look at her and you don’t think, I wonder what her personal life is like,” Miley revealed in the Dec/Jan issue of Seventeen.

Both Lindsay Lohan and Megan Fox have instilled the work of Marilyn Monroe in their minds and on their bodies! Megan Fox has a tattoo of Marilyn Monroe's face on her forearm, while Lindsay resorted to a very interesting quote of Marilyn Monroe's. The tattoo reads, "Everyone's a star and deserves the right to twinkle". This rings very true for all of the rising starlets that struggle to elongate their ladder to success. For some, the icons mentioned makes this goal easier... while others.... not so much. Nonetheless, the icons mentioned are all admirable for what they have accomplished and how they did it. It's true that sex sells, but so does talent, and together.... the sky is the limit, and for that, the ladder of success is never ending!

  1. Its amazing to see how these young stars are mimicking generations before them. The one thing i was thinking about while reading the article was who do you think the icons mentioned were influenced and the ones before them? Where they original? If so what does it say about the artists that we see today does it sort of make them "unoriginal" since in fact they are mimicking artists before them? Just something I was thinking. However, I do understand the point of your article and I think it is nice to see how these young starts are rising on the ladder using past influences.

  2. I love this one, because personally I love looking at celebrity blogs, magazines, etc but never really think about even the smallest things like their poses. Just seeing these three pictures it's kind of an eye opener. We automatically think this or that person is such a trendsetter/trailblazer when actuality a lot of these stars are only mimicking older generations. It's like a big circle! So what is/who was original? I loved this blog! It reiterates the whole notion of respecting those that came before us! =]

  3. the young starlets mentioned in this post are extremely intelligent and resourceful for utilizing the careers of successful women before them to enhance their careers. anyone in her right mind would do the same. fortunately enough, these young women do not receive much negative criticism for channeling the careers of their idols. Some may view these young women as "unoriginal," but if we analyze the ways in which they have mimicked their idols, we will see the creativity within these young women and their inherent originality. give them time to blossom. we may not notice their originality yet, but we will. in 20 years when it is their turn to be idolized, we will look back at their careers and become astounded at the amount of innovation that they truly possess.
